New Students Take advantage of our $75 Intro Week

Congratulations! You’ve taken the first steps towards a healthy, more peaceful you! The hard part is over, here are some answers to many commonly asked questions in preparation of your first class:

Do I need to pre-register? When should I arrive?

We recommend that you pre-register for your class on Mind Body, but it is not required. Make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of the class in order to fill out any necessary paperwork and get yourself acquainted to the room.

What should I bring with me to class?

Bring a yoga mat, a towel, and plenty of water! Some classes require hand weights, or loop bands (Inferno Hot Pilates, Booty and Core, Body Bootcamp), or a yoga block (Vinyasa). However, if you forget, we rent mats, towels, and props. We sell water and various hydrating beverages.

How long are the classes?

All of our classes are 60 minutes, except for Ashtanga which is 75 minutes. Please arrive on time! Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the room once the class has begun.

What should I wear?

You will be doing a lot of moving, so make sure that you wear clothing that will allow for lots of movement and not be restricting. Additionally, you will be in a hot room so expect to sweat a lot more than usual. Make sure all clothing items are breathable. Appropriate clothing items include: bathing suits, shorts, tank tops, sports bras, and leotards.

Why is the room hot?

The room is heated in order to warm muscles, which facilitates deeper stretching in shorter periods of time allowing you to see results faster. Additionally, the heat allows for your muscles to heal while simultaneously preventing injury. A common misconception is that Yoga is all about working muscles. In fact Yoga massages deep tissues as well as glands and organs, which allows your body to release toxins stored deep within the body. Your skin releases toxins by sweating, leaving you glowing from head to toe.

Will I feel nauseous, dizzy, or tired after my first class? What can I do about it?

It is not uncommon to feel nauseous or dizzy during your first class. Practicing Yoga in a heated room helps us determine our present condition as well as allows us to take much better care of ourselves. If you ever feel nauseous or dizzy during a class, more often than not it is because you have not consumed enough water. It is suggested that we need 64-80 ounces of water a day to help the body function properly. If you feel tired after your first class, this is likely due to the fact that your body has already started to cleanse itself as a result of the yoga practice. This is no reason to panic and after the first few classes this sensation should pass. The more you can relax and the more effort you can put into your practice, the more energized you will feel after class and throughout the rest of your day.

I’m not flexible—can I still do yoga?

The most common misconception that keeps new students from practicing Yoga is that you must have a certain amount of flexibility. This is simply not true. The only thing that matters is that you put in 100% of your effort and your flexibility will increase gradually.

Will this help me lose weight?

Regardless of your level of fitness, you will find our Yoga to be challenging. With determination, patience, and dedication, you can lose inches, gain lean muscle, and develop strength that is not available through other forms of exercise.

How many times a week should I practice?

It is recommended that in order to get the most benefit from our Yoga that you practice no less than 10 times a month. Unlike other forms of exercise such as weight lifting, it is not necessary to take a rest day. The more often that you practice yoga, the greater the benefits that you will receive. It is important to consider practicing yoga as a type of internal hygiene. The same way that you would brush your teeth every day, you should practice yoga to clean your insides and maintain good health.

What benefits can I expect from practicing Hot Yoga?

There are numerous benefits that you can expect from practicing Hot Yoga from an increase in stamina, mental clarity, as well as glowing skin. With regular practice you become more energized, more fully alive, more you.
